"To accompilsh great things, we must not only act but also dream, not only dream but also believe!"

-Anatole France

"Instead of weeping when a tragedy occurs in a songbirds life, it sings away its grief. I believe we could well follow the pattern of our feathered friends."

-Robert S. Walker

Christian Youth for Equal Rights

(C Y F E R)

The CYFER campaign is designed for teens and college students, ages 12 to 25. Its purpose is to teach tolerance of other religions, races and cultures. It is also meant to find a way to bring God back into our schools. Our schools teach us about the Constitution, but they neglect to inform us that the foundation of our Constitution is based on the Bible.

They teach us that the House of Representatives meets at our nation's capital for their sessions, but they do not mention that representatives pray in unity before each session begins. American public schools teach us about many religions; from Paganism to Islam, Jehovah's Witness to Taoism, and Atheism to Judaism. But, they leave out the one religion that is the foundation of this country - Christianity. It is true that our country is made up of people of many different religions, cultures and backgrounds.

Why do they leave out the role of Christianity in our country? If the United States government won't change the law so that God is part of our teachings in schools, we have to bring God back in our own way. Public prayer is against the law in the United States. But private prayer cannot be legislated against or banned, because it is our right. We can pray privately, and we can openly live our lives as Christians in our public schools. We should view our schools as an opportunity to practice our faith. We should respect students and teachers we don't like, despite our differences. We should befriend or help someone who is known as an outcast, or someone we normally wouldn't associate with.

Colossians 3:17 says, "Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus. Give thanks to God the Father through Him." The words "whatever you do" includes whatever we do in our schools. We have received several e-mails from people who agree with our views. We also receive e-mails from people who are either too afraid to speak up and take a stand, or who don't believe they can have an impact on other people. CYFER is an organization through which students find out that they do have the freedom of speech, and that we, as students, are more powerful than people give us credit for.

We are the future of this country and we need to make it a better place for our children and ourselves. If we don't do it, it won't get done. Think about the way the world is headed already - is that what we want for our children? Do we want a world filled with school shootings, gang beatings and numerous teens on drugs - from weed to meth, and beer to hard liquor?

WHY DO YOU BELIEVE IN GOD?

"I was raised in church, however many years ago a tragic event in my life brought me to my knees. God has been very real in my life since that day and I see his work and favor in my life and in every thing I do. I give all of the glory to him for he has blessed my life when I should have died!"
