American White Pelican, with breeding "knob" and breeding colors on the bill, and breeding plumes on head. Breeding occurs early in the spring. After the breeding season - the knob will disappear and the plumes will fall off. Black Dog Road, MN

Turkey (eastern subspecies tom) in strutting posture. Toms often inhale air into the air sacks in their chests, and then exhale it in a loud "spit", then let more air out in what is referred to as a "drum", but which is actually a boom, similar to what prairie chickens do. Drumming is performed with the wings, by Ring-necked Pheasants after they crow, and by Ruffed Grouse, but not by Turkeys. Black Dog Road.

Tom turkeys fight for dominance by slapping each other with their wings, jumping into the air and spurring each other with the spur on the back of their lower leg, by pushing the other bird's neck with their neck, and by grabbing the neck of the other bird with their beak .
